History

The story of Jade Transport Limited began way back in 1935 in Mexico when Jake Dyck started hauling logs with a Model A truck. After emigrating to Manitoba from Mexico in 1952, the elder Dyck transported cars from Ontario to Saskatchewan. In 1965, he decided to leave the highway to work locally for a tanker company called Oil and Industry Suppliers. Four years later, in 1969, Jake was offered a local contract to haul asphalt cement, and he joined forces with another man to form J & J Trucking, a partnership that lasted only a few years.

Jake's son Larry began working for the company in 1975, and the following year the name "Jade Transport Ltd." officially came into existence. It was an acronym for Jake Amy Dyck Enterprises, a business concern which Larry and his spouse Kim proceeded to aquire in 1984. Larry's father retired in 1986, and that same year saw Greg Arndt, a high school friend of Larry's, come to work in the office, and soon thereafter become a partner in the business.

By the mid-1983s, Jade Transport had begun to broaden its horizons when it partnered with another company, Provincial Tankers, a division of Route Canada, from Concord, Ontario. Jade became their agent for Western Canada, and began hauling chemicals after acquiring its first stainless steel units in the latter part of the decade. Following the demise of Route Canada in 1988, and after receiving its own operating authority, Jade Transport started hauling cross-border to the U.S. and coast-to-coast across Canada.

Since the early 1990s, Jade Transport has specialized in the transport of liquid bulk, including dangerous substances such as chemicals consisting of flammable liquids and mild corrosives, asphalt, petroleum and hazardous waste. Today, the Jade fleet has grown to over 90 trailers, including 46 stainless steel tankers and over 50 tractors.

All our tractors are custom ordered and our trailer fleet consists of hot product tankers (asphalt hauling) in various configurations from tandem to Super-B train. The tandem stainless steel tanker fleet is built to MC307 and DOT 407 code. The stainless steel tankers are fully insulated with in-transit heat and steam capabilities. Our tankers are specifically designed to protect temperature-sensitive liquids and several of the tanks have vapour recovery capability. We also offer multi-compartment tanks for those customers managing inventories consisting of many different liquid products.

We are committed to constantly improving our quality of service. In 2002, we achieved the ISO 9001:2000 certification. Jade Transport is also a CVSA approved vehicle inspection station, and has the ability to certify trucks to operate anywhere in North America. Our 10,000 square foot, six-bay maintenance shop has an external wash facility that is available to outside customers.
