Driver Profiles

Jon Dyck

Unit #: 199

Handle: Whatever

Jon says his favourite thing about working at Jade is that it’s like family...Oh wait, it is family. He grew up riding shotgun in a Peterbilt 359, beside Larry; his dad. Subsequently eighteen years of his life were spent dreaming of “steerin’ and gearin’” his own Peterbilt. Before he was old enough to drive, he washed trucks and worked on a Manitoba highways crew, where he could watch trucks. Jon also took a small break, from behind the wheel, to do some dispatching, but he really is in his element rolling in his “portable corner office.”
Not content to just drive the trucks, Jon has designed two show-trucks and competes in show and shines across the continent. His trophy is his truck and his soundtrack is straight pipes and tires whining on the highway. Time away from the truck is spent with his wife, Alison, where they attend worship services and go snowmobiling or fishing together.

Ron Janzen

Unit #: 206

Handle: He Claims He Doesn't Have One!

As a kid, Ron Janzen grew up building Lego trucks. This hobby quickly progressed to Mattel model trucks and finally to driving real trucks. Ron began running trips with his brother, Ger’, in high school and got his own class 1 in 1981. He spent eighteen years pulling a flatdeck for Newton Enterprises, hauling every kind of building material possible. Much of that time was spent figuring out how to arrange and keep the load on the trailer. Which Ron says was a real education in resourcefulness. Ron’s now been with Jade for seven and a half years and operated both as a company driver and owner op. His favourite lane is anything with four to five days on the road and especially when that includes going to Chicago. If he’s not running his truck, he’s spending time with his wife, Deb, or riding around on his Honda Goldwing.

Barry Kasdorf

Unit #: 214

Handle: Krash

Barry’s interest in trucks started as a young boy watching his dad who was a long-distance truck driver. Before becoming a full-time truck driver, Barry spent several years balancing between carpentry and driving. That is, at least, until he decided to put the hammer down, both figuratively and literally. Barry’s favourite truck, because of the classic styling, is unit# 188 the Pete Cabover, but we haven’t heard him complain about the long-hood on his Pete 389. For a guy that travels so much for work, Barry loves taking time off to go on vacation with his family and snowboarding with his daughters.
