December Driver Profile: Sheldon Jonasson
We're a little late but here it is nonetheless! Here's to Sheldon!
Name: Sheldon Jonasson
Job Title: Owner/Operator
Years of service: 12
Unit #: 164
Make/Model: Peterbilt 379
Year: 2001
He always liked trucks as a kid. Growing up on a farm, he was constantly surrounded by heavy equipment. He grew up on a dairy farm and he liked seeing the trucks come to pick up the milk. That’s how his like of tankers began.
Before coming to Jade, Sheldon worked in the construction industry. Before that he worked on the family farm.
His favourite route currently is Winnipeg to Yorkton. He enjoys the familiarity of it. The trip he remembers most was when he was called to Firdale, MB. It’s a small town and he was called in with a few other Jade trucks and many other carriers because there was a spill that everyone was called in to help clean up.
Sheldon likes working at Jade because he enjoys tanker work. It reminds him of seeing the tankers coming to the dairy farm when he was a kid.
If he wasn’t a truck driver, Sheldon says he would’ve been a heavy equipment operator. He just loves big machinery, he can’t explain it.
In his spare time, you can find Sheldon fishing, spending time with his family and his dog.

It's Mid-Movember
For those of you that don't know, Movember is a fundraising and awareness campaign in support of men's health and research for prostate cancer. The idea is simple, November 1st, men shave it all off, and grow a mustache for the entire month. The mustaches garner attention, maybe some humour, we all have some fun and support a good cause.
We work in a male dominated industry and we want to see men take care of their heath. A big step towards that is awareness and knowledge. Along with that comes research into find ways to treat prostate cancer. To find out more or to donate, go to movember.com. If you would like to donate to the Jade team, look up "Jade Brigade" on the movember.com Canada site. For every dollar donated, Jade will match the contribution up to a maximum total of $500.
Ladies, we apologize for the face furniture, but we're happy about men taking care of their health. Sorry!
Happy Movember to you all!

November Driver Profile
Name: Dave Kryminski
Job Title: Company Driver/City and Regional
Years of service: 12
Unit #: 99
Make/Model: Peterbilt 379 Glider
Year: 1997
Dave started driving when he was in his 20s. He was automatically dubbed the “Kid” because he was the newest and the youngest at his job. Since then he’s done construction work up in Northern Manitoba, drilling and blasting, he was a cab driver and he drove delivering produce, cattle but eventually ended up hauling tankers.
He started driving because he fell in love with trucks and he says once that happens, “You just can’t leave’em.” He prefers city work because it keeps him alert, what with so many changes, there’s always something going on. He doesn’t like long drives like he used to because he finds them a little boring.
His most memorable trip was when he hauled fuel into Kasabonika, ON. It’s a remote destination and he said he was one of the first trucks to get in there. It took them a few hours to go 5 miles because they had to clear trees and such to get them to the town. That being said, when they got to the town, the people were so happy and appreciative, Dave was treated very well and people were taking photos of the trucks and all around having a good time.
Dave came to Jade on the referral of a good friend of his. They were like brothers and he convinced Dave to come apply at Jade. Larry did his road test, Greg did all his training and orientation and off he went. It’s been 12 years ever since and he’s still happy with the choice he made. He likes being at Jade because he feels well treated and he enjoys the work he does. He appreciates that he’s been in the same truck for a long time and doesn’t have to switch frequently. Another thing he enjoys is being able to speak to the managers when he needs to and that the environment at Jade is like the old show “Cheers”, it’s a place where everybody knows your name.
Had Dave not become a truck driver, he always wanted to be a shops teacher. He likes working with his hands and tinkering on mechanical equipment. It suits him well because in his spare time he works on his babies, a Harley Davidson, 650 Yamaha, 1000 Suzuki and a practical little scooter. That or when he was really young he wanted to be an astronaut. We’re glad he chose to stay on this planet and come work with us, we like seeing his friendly face around here.
